Background on Home Staging Training
You are probably aware by now that if you are planning to have a business that focuses on home staging, you should not spend too much money for it. However, if you are not yet that familiar with how you should go about your business, you can enroll yourself in a home staging training course that will give you an idea on the things that you should do. One the other hand, if you are already in the process of looking for the perfect training course for you, there are a number of things that you should consider to have an easier time.
For instance, you have to find out who is the person in charge for this particular home staging training course that you are looking at; this is important so that you will be able to judge if the person or people in charge are really reliable to teach you how to run your business. Aside from knowing who your teachers will be, it is also very important to find out the different materials that you will be using in the training process. It is a fact that a lot of lectures will probably be given to you, but it is always best for you to have a hard copy of everything that you have studied so that you can use it as your reference in the future. If you are one competitive person who wants to make sure that you are already fit to start your own home staging business, you can find a course that will only pass its students only if the needed requirements have been met. One the other hand, if you just want a certification that will give you the confidence to start your own business, you can join training courses that will eventually certify everyone who took the course. It is also very important for you to find out if you will be given the chance to learn all the things you need to know hands on; this is needed considering the fact that you will be able to easily absorb everything if you are able to apply them immediately. The things that you will get while still enrolled in this particular course are not the only things that are important because that you will acquire even after the course has ended are also needed. For instance, you have to find out if you will be able to ask help from your teachers even after you have graduated from the course; this is really something to look forward to so that if ever you encounter some problems in the future, you will have some people to help you with it.
When you have considered all of the elements that you need to look into to be able to end up with a home staging training course that will really help you, you will surely be able to start your own business with not just the confidence, but also with the important strategies and techniques that you need to be successful in the end.

On Stage $11.98 This collection of live performances, recorded July 21, 1957, at New River Ranch in Rising Sun, MD, and March 25, 1958, at Sunset Park in Oxford, PA, is a great companion to Reno & Smiley’s established catalog of studio recordings. The performances are excellent, featuring the two stars backed by the Tennessee Cut-Ups, consisting of future Porter Wagoner alumnus Mack Magaha on fiddle and John Palmer on bass, and include nine numbers that the duo never recorded officially. The only flaw is the somewhat restricted acoustics, a product of the era in which these shows were taped — it sounds slightly more compressed than one would like, and sometimes Palmer’s upright bass is slightly too obtrusive, at other times not sufficiently present. On the other hand, this is the listener’s big chance to hear the duo’s versions of “Billy in the Low Ground” (a dazzling showcase for Red Smiley and Mack Magaha), “When You and I Were Young, Maggie” (a great Don Reno banjo showpiece), and “Don’t Stop Now,” the latter highlighted by Smiley’s glittering guitar runs, not to mention Don Gibson’s “I Can’t Stop Loving You” and the Stanley Brothers’ “Big Ball in Brooklyn” (some of the fastest banjo playing you’ll ever hear). And the live version of “Bonaparte’s Retreat,” illuminated by Reno’s banjo pyrotechnics (and vocal clowning), coupled with their vocal acrobatics on the gospel “He Will Set Your Fields on Fire” are by themselves just about worth the price of the album. ~ Bruce Eder, Rovi |

The Stage Names $11.98 Okkervil River broke away from the crowded indie rock pack with 2005′s superb Black Sheep Boy, a ragged but ornate barroom romp that drank its way to the top of countless year-end lists by finding that thin vein that separates triumph and desperation and hammering as many nails into it as they could in under 50 minutes. Fans used to Will Sheff’s visceral, lo-fi caterwauls may be disappointed in the bruised and elegant Stage Names upon first listen, but further spins reveal BSB as more of a stepping-stone than a peak. “It’s just a life story/so there’s no climax,” from the rousing opener “Our Life Is Not a Movie or Maybe” sets the tone, and its floor tom gallop and volatile whoops sound like an unholy combination of My Aim Is True-era Elvis Costello and Transformer-era Lou Reed spilling out of an old player piano. Sheff has proven himself again and again to be a gifted wordsmith, and Stage Names features some of his finest parlor room romanticisms and slacker-poet observations to date. “Plus Ones,” a studied rumination on some of popular music’s most beloved numerically titled tracks (“96 Tears,” “99 Luftballons,” “Eight Miles High,” “TVC 15,” “7 Chinese Brothers,” “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover” etc.) adds an unnecessary integer (“Not everyone’s keen on lighting candle 17/The party’s done/The cake’s all gone/The plates are clean”), cleverly illuminating pop culture’s insatiable thirst for sequels and remakes. It’s a trick that could easily turn trite in less capable hands, but one of the band’s many strengths is its ability to mirror Sheff with arrangements that match the earnestness, wickedness and occasional pomp of the lyrics. Those talents are used most effectively on two of the record’s other highlights, the soft and broken “Girl in Port” and the alternately heartbreaking and hysterical “John Allyn Smith Sails,” the latter of which chronicles the suicide of poet John Berryman and manages to integrate the Beach Boys’ “Sloop John B” so seamlessly that you’d swear it had never existed before. It’s not all winsome ballads about backstage passes and gutter bound writers though, as Sheff and company open up the full sneer on “Unless It’s Kicks,” “You Can’t Hold the Hand of a Rock and Roll Man” and “A Hand to Take Hold of the Scene,” making Stage Names less of a metaphor for the cinematic lives we wish we could have and more of a reminder that it’s us who make the films. [The first 5,000 copies of Stage Names (the "deluxe" edition) came with a bonus disc featuring all of Sheff's demos for the record.] ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi Performers: Caitlin Bailey – Cello; Katie Nott – Viola; Scott Brackett – Mellotron, Organ (Hammond), Cornet, Synthesizer, Percussion; |

Dreams of Sex and Stage Diving $13.95 Elfish's friends live hand to mouth in a bleak section of London, squatting, seeing local bands, getting high, and feeling bitter over lost ambitions. Except Elfish, who pursues exactly what she wants with demonic single-mindedness. Elfish rarely eats, never washes, and is devoted to Queen Mab — both the Shakespearian fairy, "deliverer of dreams," and her thrash metal band, formed with her attractive but dimwitted lover, Mo. When Mo jilts her and calls his new band Queen Mab, Elfish is determined to keep the name for her own band and sets about getting revenge. To stop Mo, Elfish is obliged to steal, cheat, and lie to everyone around her. Happily, Elfish is a compulsive liar, and quite fond of cheating and stealing. On the night Mo's band is to play, he and his friends laugh cruelly around her. The people she has deceived turn on her viciously. It is up to Elfish whether to give up hope or to rally, proving to all the power of her will. A fearless stage diver and shameless purveyor of bad sex, Elfish stands alone. Surrounded by people who have given up hope, only she will not put down her guitar. Only she refuses to stop dreaming. |

Stage [2] [Japan Bonus Track] $37.59 Eight years after their debut release, Sweetback return with the mellow follow-up Stage [2]. The group — guitarist/saxophonist Stuart Matthewman, keyboardist Andrew Hale, and bassist Paul S. Denman (R&B diva Sade’s backing band) — has crafted a laid-back album of retro-soul, contemporary R&B, melodic pop, and mildly experimental electronica. This time around, vocalists Chocolate Genius and Aya take over the lead singer duties from Sweetback’s previous collaborators, Maxwell and Amel Larrieux. While the first album seemed like a hip furthering of the work the band did with Sade, Stage [2] feels even more like a side project — heavy on the electro atmosphere — with songs so minor and slight that they barely register. In that sense, those Sade fans hoping for more of the same accessible, jazzy, and sophisticated songs she is known for may or may not like this. There are some nice tracks, though, especially the Aya ones such as the atmospheric ballad “Lover,” which would have fit nicely on Love Deluxe. Similarly engaging is the melancholy indie pop-sounding “Things You’ll Never Know,” which brings to mind the best Ivy. On the other hand, Chocolate Genius’ woozy psychedelic vibe isn’t as charming as Maxwell’s dreamy croon, although the darkly acoustic “Jesus Girl” does sound a bit like Terry Callier produced by Jermaine Dupri. While the album isn’t fully engaging, fans of quirky R&B looking for a mellow listen may find Sweetback a minor delight. [The Japan-only version included a bonus track.] ~ Matt Collar, Rovi |

On Stage: February 1970 [Expanded] $6.77 Elvis’ second live album, partly cut at the International Hotel in Las Vegas in early 1970 , is one of his most unfairly underrated releases. In its original form, it did seem a bit cheap, offering ten songs that weren’t necessarily associated with Elvis Presley. By this time, he was adding covers of other artists’ contemporary hits to his set, not to capitalize on their success but to keep his hand in contemporary music and show audiences of the era that he was capable of doing more than reprising his own 1950s and early-’60s songs. The critics failed to notice two things, however: Presley had the same first-rate band who had graced the previous tour, led by James Burton on guitar; when he performed Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline,” Tony Joe White’s “Polk Salad Annie,” or (most especially) Del Shannon’s “Runaway,” he did them extremely well. “The Wonder of You” might not have been “That’s All Right” or even “Heartbreak Hotel,” but it was a towering performance by a singer who, even then, could run circles around virtually anyone in the business this side of Roy Orbison . The 1999 full-priced reissue not only improves the sound, but adds six songs (for a total of 16), four of them — “In the Ghetto,” “Kentucky Rain,” “Don’t Cry Baby,” and “Suspicious Minds” — recent Elvis Presley hits. Although he didn’t do any of the songs from his movies or any of the early-1960s hits, he did those four, and that makes this CD essential for any Elvis fan who cares about his comeback or the best work that followed; it also makes this the perfect companion to the 1968 television comeback and the Suspicious Minds (aka Memphis Record) album. ~ Bruce Eder, Rovi Performers: Charlie Hodge – Guitar; Elvis Presley – Guitar; Glen D. Hardin – Piano; James Burton – Guitar; James Wilkinson – Guitar; Jerry Scheff – Bass; The Imperials Quartet – Vocals; The Sweet Inspirations – Vocals |

Stage by Stage $1.99 Teaching full-time and acquiring all the oddball kids in the new intake are only the first of Beth’s challenges when Alan leaves her after 25 years of marriage. She also has to turn her untidy Cambridge house into a B&B to make ends meet and then counteract the effect of regular theatrical guests on her stage-mad teenage children. Alan doesn’t even have the decency to stay out of her life. Instead he makes disapproving incursions back in with his saccharine-laden new partner. But Beth’s real worry is lodger Owen Pendragon – a character actor with wicked hazel eyes, a quirky sense of humour and a tendency to walk around her home sexily damp in his bathrobe. With attitudes and lifestyles clashing, will Beth and Owen ever find common ground? All they can do is to take things ‘stage by stage’. |
